『てへぺろ』とは、おどけて見せたい時やちょっとした失敗をごまかしたい時などにするポーズ。「てへ」っと笑いながら「ぺろ」っと舌を出す仕草のこと。頭の斜め上あたりでピースサインをし、ウインクをしながら言うのが定番。

ネットの掲示板やSNSなどの文章中では、「てへぺろ(・ω<)” 」のように顔文字付きで使われることも多い。

もともとは声優の日笠陽子氏の持ちネタだったが、2012年2月頃にソフトバンクのCMで使われたことから、女子中高生をはじめ、多くの人に広まった。

“Tehepero” is a pose for when you want to show yourself funny or when you want to cover up a little mistake. A gesture of laughing “tehe” and sticking out a tongue “pero”.
＊”Pero” is an Japanese onomatopoeia that expresses the appearance of the tongue.

It’s a standard style to make a peace sign near the top of your head and wink.

It is often used with emoticons, such as [ tehepero (・ ω <)” ]  in the texts on Internet forum and SNS.

Originally it was a story of voice actor Yoko Hikasa, but since it was used in a SoftBank commercial around February 2012, it spread to many people, including female high school students.
